Straighter teeth in less time.
Is Six Month Smiles for you?
Are you embarressed to smile because of the appearance of your front teeth?
Then Six Month Smiles may be for you as it reduces orthodontic treatment time to around six month by concentrating on straightening teeth that are only visible when you smile. This allows transformation of your smile by adjusting misaligned, crooked or spaced teeth in your smileline. This is in contrast to traditional braces that straighten all teeth in an arch or the whole mouth and typically take 18 to 24 months.
What are the benefits?
The white brackets and wires used are a discrete alternative to the traditional metal braces and the gentle pressure used means that there is little discomfort or pain over the short period of treatment.
The white appliances used are not as discrete as the almost invisible appliances used by the Invisalign method though the treatment is quicker and more efficient in carrying out certain tooth movements such as rotations or extrusions.
If you have any questions please let our dentists know and they will discuss the range of orthodontic treatment options available to you.
What is involved?
At your free consultation we will discuss your concerns about your smile and what you wish to achieve in transforming your smile. We will check your teeth and discuss the dental options available to you explaining the benefits, risks and costs associated with the options.
Should you choose to proceed with the Six Months Smiles option we will arrange an appointment where we will take impressions of your upper and lower jaws. These impressions and photographs are sent to the Six Months Smiles laboratory in the United States to create your custom appliance.
When your braces are ready you are invited to an initial fitting appointment where your made-to-measure trays and wires are fitted. We will advise on how to maintain your dental hygiene. Some initial discomfort may be felt after the appliance is fitted but it is rarely chronic.
Depending on the complexity of your case, you will be required to attend our surgery every 4 - 6 weeks. At each visit we will check progress and adjust the braces as required.
At the completion of the course of treatment, the braces are removed and your retention options are discussed with you.
The average duration of treatment is six months but it is likely that treatment may take between 4 and 9 months.
